Elvis Presley was the first real rock and roll star I remember as a preteen watching Elvis on the Ed Sullivan show. I thought he was the greatest entertainer. I always loved hearing or reading everything about him. I watched his movies at our local Drive-in theatre and still do when they're on the satellite. I use to buy every one of his records that came out. I saved every bit of my money to buy his records. I still have the 45's. During his career Elvis Presley had 94 gold singles, three gold EPs, and over 40 gold albums. His movies grossed over $180 million. When Elvis gained weight and battled his drugs towards the end I was devasted by it. I kept hoping he'd get control of himself and make a giant comeback. But it never happened the way I wanted it to. Elvis Prestley passed away on my sons 6th birthday August 16th 1977. I remember when I first heard about his passing and I was so upset and started crying. We was suppose to go to his concert. It was going to be a event I'd never forget, because my dream was to see Elvis in person. It ended up being a event I'd never forget.
